President Mary McAleese Officially Opens the Pastoral Centre on the 27th of January
|
Dunshaughlin Pastoral Centre Phone Number 8024780 The Centre was officially blessed and opened by Bishop Smith on Sunday the 6th of December. On Sundays and after weekday Masses do drop in for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat. The Centre is managed and staffed by volunteers and Fas personnel. We now appeal to our Parishioners to volunteer three hours per week to assist. We need people to help run the Coffee Dock, to staff reception and Parish Shop, to care-take during and after events and to secure the building after events.
The rewards would be the feeling that you are making a contribution to a very worthwhile cause, a clean, new and elegant place in which to work, opportunities to meet like-minded people with whom you could talk to and probably befriend - all with no pressure.
So please contact the Denise (01- 8024780) give her the times most suitable to you and give a commitment for three or six months. She will arrange for a member of the Parish Council to contact you and “roster” you. It is hoped to have a volunteer force of over thirty persons thus ensuring that the commitment is not too onerous and that each member of the force would have other members who they could call to cover for them in the event of sickness or other reason for non attendance and that in such circumstance they would not feel that they were leaving their work-load to a colleague. Your kindness will be rewarded.
The Pastoral Centre €2,040,000 subject to variations on the final costs of professional fees, furniture and fittings. We have already taken out loans to pay for the Centre and all contibutions, no matter how small, are very welcome. To those of you who have your contributions recorded, either by standing order or by weekly envelope, and who sign up for your tax refund, many thanks – your continuity is much appreciated. What is it for? The Pastoral Centre is for all members of the community to participate in acting out our mission. All the religious societies in the Parish can now meet in suitable and pleasant accommodation, and at no cost, to carry out their objectives. And it is for more than that. We all know that healthy leisure pursuits are to be recommended and promoted especially for the youth. It is planned that Friday nights will be youth nights at the centre where the Youth Room, the Conference Room and the Coffee Dock will be made available to the youth with experienced supervision. You are invited to encourage your family to participate in its programs and events and thus, together with the supervisors, ensure that a safe and enjoyable environment is developed and maintained. Our Church has always encouraged and sponsored art, culture and education and here we have a most suitable premises for all to pursue their interest in each of these. Do you have an interest in leading any of these pursuits? If so please come forward and we will try to facilitate you. You will find that our rates are modest relative to our facilities Finally, for business we have the newest full conference facility in the area, it can comfortably hold 150 participants with a full AV system, blue tooth, computer, printing and copying facilities. We ask everyone to promote this facility to their business and professional friends. Again our hire rates are moderate.
