Darkness into Light Walk: Sat 11th May at 4.15 am in various towns throughout the Diocese. Funds raised are going to Pieta House. Pieta House offers counselling to families and children who have been bereaved by suicide, counselling to those who are self -harming and those who are suicidal. 24 hour helpline is 1800 247 247.
Parish Ministry Day on Lough Derg, Sat 18th May: The Parish Ministry Day will be of particular interest to those in lay ministry: readers, Ministers of the Eucharist, baptism and liturgy teams, safeguarding personnel, parish pastoral and finance personnel and so many others who support the parish in dedicated ways. This unique day on the Island offers the opportunity for people in lay ministry across all parishes and dioceses to gather together and enjoy an enriching spiritual experience.
The theme for the day is ‘It is Christ we are serving‘ and guest speaker, Mr Jim Deeds, will offer spiritual nourishment and ways to develop good self-care whilst giving of oneself in the service of the parish community.
Boats are available from 9.15am. The day will begin at 10.30am and conclude with the Celebration of Eucharist at 3pm. Hospitality on the day includes tea/coffee & scones and a light lunch. Boats return from 4.15pm. Admission: €25/£22

Columban Lay Missionaries: In 1994 the Society of St Columban established the Columban Lay Mission Program. Since the establishment of the program lay missionaries have been assigned to Ireland from such countries as Fiji, the Philippines and Korea. Irish lay missionaries have been assigned to the Philippines, Korea, China, Hong Kong and Chile. Presently Ms Kyungja Lee from Korea is the coordinator of Columban Lay Mission in Ireland.
