Return to Mass (June 29th)

Return to Public Celebration of Masses

Public Masses commence on Monday June 29th (Feast of St Peter & Paul)

• The Bishops have stated that no Church should open for Masses until satisfactory
arrangements are put in place. They add that vulnerable or unwell people should stay
at home and participate at Masses via webcam etc .
• Parishes must follow HSE advice re physical distancing ( 2 metres apart), handwashing and sanitizing.
• The Bishops advise that every effort should be made to support active prayerful
participation in the Mass.
• The dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is extended for now.
• There will be no choirs, no procession of gifts, no sign of peace, Holy Communion
in the hand only. Priests and Ministers will visibly sanitize and wear masks for Communion.

In Accordance with the Bishops Guidelines, we have put in place a Covid 19 Committee.
The Committee will oversee the safe return to public worship in both Churches.
The seating has been organised to allow for 2 metre apart rule, unfortunately this has reduced the number of people who can be accommodated in our Churches.
The Committee have made the following arrangements.
Signage at all doors, sanitizers and floor markings are in place.
It is proposed that people will enter the Church by the main door only, stewards will be in place to assist individuals and families.
The Stewards will be on duty outside the Church also.
Stewards will supervise a collection at the exit doors.
It is possible that some will come to Mass on Sunday and find they cannot get into the Church. This is unavoidable due to restrictions, to assist people there are speakers outside
the church where it will be possible to listen to the Mass.
We ask people to observe the 2 metres distancing rule around the Church rather than congregate at doors as speakers are at the front, back and sides.
Communion will be distributed at the front door after the Mass.
We are making a fresh start, as Pope Francis advises, ‘‘Lets proceed carefully’’
