Sunday of the Word of God
This Sunday reminds us of the importance and value of Sacred Scripture for Christian life. Essentially today is devoted to the Bible to help us grow in our love and the knowledge of the Word of God. God speaks to His people when the Word is proclaimed. We value our Readers who proclaim the Word of God each Sunday we thank them for the commitment they make and the preparation they put in.
At the end of the Reading we simply say ‘The Word of the Lord’
St Jerome. ‘ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ’

Do this in Memory
Programme of preparation for parents of children preparing for their
First Communion continues on line with Mass on next Sunday 24th of
January at 12noon. We invite parents and children to link in at dunshaughlinculmullenparish.ie for this Mass. The theme is baptism, only children baptised in the Catholic Church can receive their First Holy Communion, this is why we emphasise the Sacrament of Baptism at this stage. So parents and children we invite you to find your christening candle, put it on the table and light it as you join us on line for the Do this in Memory Mass next Sunday at 12 noon.
Catholic Schools Week
Today begins a week of prayer reflecting on the place of our schools in the life and ministry of the Parish. We pray for the children, the teachers/staff, parents and all involved during this crisis. The theme of Catholic Schools Week this year is ‘Catholic Schools; Communities of Faith and Resilience. These virtues are indeed needed very much this year as Schools continue to teach in the most demanding of circumstances.
