Advent – Time of Hope
While Advent has become commercialised in recent years, it is still for all
Christians a time of hope.
The constant prayer-word of Advent is Come.
As long as there is someone who is coming there is hope.
The Roman Centurion begged Jesus to come and heal his servant.
Jesus said ‘I will come myself and cure him’.
Jesus is the someone who comes. He comes to us in a special way in
Holy Communion, the greatest source of spiritual healing. We join with
the Centurion in saying ‘Lord l am not worthy that you should enter
under my roof but only say the word and my soul shall be healed’
Holy Communion is not a prize for being good, it is the healing food which helps us to be good. Jesus comes to us as a praying community at Mass and personally in Holy Communion.
Let our Advent be filled with hope as we begin a new cycle in the Liturgy we hope for a speedy return to attendance at Mass, Holy Communion and the Sacraments, we hope for a vaccine that will allow us to be with our family and friends, we hope for a renewal of faith as we turn to Jesus with the prayer;

Daily Prayer in Advent
Lord, may my prayer be joyful, hopeful and expectant, filled with longing for your presence and hope for your coming, Come, Lord Jesus, Come.
Our Father…… Ten Hail Marys Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to
The Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and shall be evermore, Amen
